Outkast- Da Art of Storytellin'

This probably one of my favorite collabos of all time. Slick Rick meshes really well with Outkast. Outkast really takes storytelling to a whole nother level on this one. For whatever reason, the version with Slick Rick wasn't on my version of Aquemini. But i found it for you guys. Also, i'm throwin in the most recent version of this song, "the art of Storytellin pt 4"

Outkast- In Due Time ft. Cee-Lo

Here's a cutty Outkast video that i never heard/seen before. I don't even know what album this song is off of. S*** is pretty dope though. Andre and Big Boi really bust on this one.

Cee-Lo- Bass Head Jazz

Here's a real chill cut by Cee-Lo from the "Cee-Lo Green and His Perfect Imperfections" album. This is probably one of my favorite Cee-Lo songs. He really came a long way from when he first started out with Goodie Mobb. It's cool to see cats from the south show their versatility. I really recommend listenin to the whole album.

San Franpsycho Nights

Because I'm kind of missing my home, here's one of my favorite hip hop songs about San Francisco, San Francisco Knights by People Under the Stairs (Oddly enough, it was done by homies from LA. hahaha. Oh well) Along with this track, I've posted the break to this song too. PUTS gets the sample from Gabor Szabo's San Francisco Nights, originally made famous by The Animals. A sample, of a sample, of a sample.... hahaha. Enjoy people. See you next week...

Lafayette Afro Rock Band- Soul Makossa

Don't let the name of the group fool you, Lafayette Afro Rock Band is pure funky goodness. With a heavy horn section and funky percussion, LARB was loved by b-boys and hip-hop producers alike. This is a dope, upbeat album from front to back....

Camp Lo- Feelin' it

Here's an old school cut by Camp Lo using Jay-Z's "Feelin it" beat. I don't know who used it first, but I do know that it's a dope track. Camp Lo, consisting of Sonny Cheeba and Geechi Suede, come from a school of lyricists that have a vocabulary all of their own. To add to their unique vocab, they each had a unique voice. It's a shame that they never had much success after their first album. Oh well. Enjoy this dope track!! (Oh, and sorry for the poor quality. You know how these lost tracks are)

Pharcyde- She Said (Jay Dee Remix)

Since I'm on the Pharcyde hype, here's another dope Dilla remix of one of my favorite Pharcyde joints, "She Said". Another dope example of a rapper who adds to a track with his vocals.

Enjoy...

Pharcyde- Runnin' (Jay Dee Remix)

Here's a Dilla remix of a classic Pharcyde track that is up to par with the original. Props to REL for hookin up with the track. Pharcyde is revolutionary because they made it cool to incorporate singing with your rhymes. And nowadays it seems like everyone is doin it. Enjoy....

Somaly Mam Foundation

On the serious tip. I want to bring up an important issue. One of my best friends in the world, Karla Louie, is doing a bike ride in Cambodia to help the millions of innocent children who are forced into sexual slavery each year, which is a billion dollar industry in SE Asia. Having been to SE Asia myself, I have witnessed first hand the poverty, corruption and prostitution in these beautiful lands. So just follow the link if you want to donate. Best of all, it's tax deductible!

peace and blessings

Nujabes

Here's a dope hip-hop group from Japan i came across maybe about a year ago. They've been around for like 5 years and surprisingly enough, not that many cats know about them. Nujabes are a dope blend of soul melodies, smooth rhymes and jazz. (You guys know how i feel about good blends. hahaha). So check out this album. Let me know what you think!

Foreign Exchange- Leave it all behind

Nicolay and Phonte (Little Brother) hook up again for another dope blend of beats and rhymes. If you enjoyed the first Foreign Exchange album, this one will not disappoint. And if you never heard of Foreign Exchange, now is your time to get on the bandwagon. HAHAHA. I'm not going to post the whole album because i want people to support good underground hip hop. But here's a taste of the album....

Styles P ft. AZ- The Hardest

Back on my hip-hop tip. Here's a dope track produced by Large Pro. Dope video too w/ some ill effects.

Lee Morgan- Search for the new land

When it comes to dope jazz albums, Lee Morgan's "Search for the new land" is definitely up there. With Lee leading the way on the trumpet, he is backed by an all-star cast of supporters: Herbie Hancock-piano, Grant Green-guitar, and Billy Higgins- drums. This is probably one of Lee Morgan's finest albums and a must-have if you're a fan of Blue Note records. Great album from front to back.

peace and blessings. Lalo

Hey Young World

What's up people? After much scrutinizing over picking a name for my blog, i decided to go simple. Most of you cats know me as a music nerd, which i cannot deny. So my goal is to put good music on blast and educate the masses. This song is an older hip hop joint, but still has relevance today. There will be more to come. Enjoy.
